Description/Blazon
A gold colored metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a brick red quatrefoil surmounted by a gold galley with a light blue sail charged with a gold fleur-de-lis.

Symbolism
The galley refers to the terminal service function of the Battalion and to its former designation as the 499th Port Battalion. The unit's participation in the Northern France campaign in World War II is also indicated by the galley which is taken from the arms of Paris; the fleur-de-lis stands for France. The four lobes of the quatrefoil stand for the four companies of the Battalion. Brick red and gold are the colors used for the Transportation Corps.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 15 August 1966.
